MFA Thesis

My work is about stability, finding balance in life and being grounded. I am using pressure and weight to enable the wearer to feel secure and tranquil. Therefore, all the work is physically very heavy as far as jewelry pieces are concerned. I aim to give a sense of grounding by using the pure metals bismuth, tin, and copper. Through the repetitive act of weaving I find balance in making these works, and transferring its calming effect to the wearer. Some of the pieces shed their weight over time since stability is not constant and not guaranteed; it is ephemeral. My pieces are helpful to find balance over and over again.
